Advanced Placement, CLEP and IB Credit at GCSU

 

AP, IB, CLEP, or Challenge are not required for admission, but we do accept advanced placement at the time of admission if it meets any one of the following:

Advanced Placement Credit Table

  • In general, a score of three or higher on tests administered in conjunction with the Advanced Placement (AP) Program of the College Entrance Examination Board. However, some subjects require a score of 4 or higher.

College Level Examination Program

  • A score of 50 or higher on certain tests given by the College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

International Baccalaureate Credit Table

  • Depending on the subject, either a score of 4 or 5 or higher on higher level IB exams. IB credit is evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

  • Transfer credits from other accredited colleges and universities (maximum of 80 semester hours in transfer and a maximum of 30 semester hours through extension courses. At least 39 of the 120 semester hours must be completed in residence at Georgia College).

1. A qualifying score on certain tests administered in conjunction with the Advanced Placement Program of the College Entrance Examination Board or

2. A qualifying score on certain tests given by the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) or

3. A qualifying score on an official international baccalaureate transcript or

4. Transfer credits from other accredited colleges and universities.

Note: The maximum credit that can be earned through Advanced Placement is 30 semester hours. In addition, graduation requirements include a minimum of 40 semester hours must be completed in residence at Georgia College & State University. At least 21 of the last 30 hours toward a degree must be completed at the 3000-4000 levels in residence at Georgia College & State University.

Transfer applicants have (or will have at the time of enrollment) at least 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of transferable college credit and will be eligible to immediately return to their previous school.  NOTE: Students must pass or exempt the University System of Georgia’s Regents Exam as one of their graduation requirements. Research has shown that a greater rate of success is achieved by students who attempt the Regents Exam immediately after completing freshman English as possible. A maximum of 80 transferable semester hours may be applied toward a degree at GCSU.
